I finally got a chance to sit down and read your review! I have actually visited Faulkner's home, although I can't claim to have read any of his novels and after read yours and Allison's reviews I'm not sure I'm going to try! Way to power through - if it had taken me to the 3rd section of the book to really grasp what was going on, well let's just say you have some serious perseverance! So enjoying reading your reviews!

The collection (now sold off at an estate sale) consisted of every edition of every Faulkner book, anything he signed (including random scraps of paper), draft movie scripts with handwritten edits, furniture he once owned, etc.

My cousin wrote a book cataloging his collection. Here it is: http://www.alibris.com/booksearch.detail?invid=9820446074&browse=1&qwork=1852666&qsort=&page=1

Now here is where it gets crazy meta: I own a signed copy of this book as well as two copies of a smaller pamphlet he wrote. Making me the world's foremost collector of Faulkner collector memorabilia.

I think Faulkner is pretty challenging to read based on my experiences and based on Allison's review here: http://wheretheresallison.blogspot.com/2009/07/ganc-absalom-absalom.html

I have to ask the obvious follow-up question because my curiosity simply won't let this rest: what sort of stuff constitutes Faulkner memorabilia? Typewriters? Books? Empty whiskey bottles? :-)

First, my review for this month is finally in: http://overtonsarrow.wordpress.com/2009/09/15/novel-challenge-a-connecticut-yankee-in-king-arthurs-court-by-mark-twain-1889/

Second, excellent job. Sound and the Fury was (and continues) to be on my list for this challenge. It is something of a little-known Oberg Family fact that my second cousin (Carl Petersen) was one of the world's foremost Faulkner memorabilia collectors. I once received a deep discount at the Faulkner House bookstore in New Orleans based solely on this fact.

It is even a lesser known fact that despite this family interest, none of my immediate family has ever bothered to read Faulkner. Embarrassing, really.
